Reading Violence in the Old Testament
The violent texts of the Old Testament can be a source trouble for evangelicals reading the bible. In this article Ellidh Cook leads us through how we can approach these texts as Evangelicals, not only as texts that we can cope with, but as texts which glorify God and help us know, love and serve him better. She does this through three examples which summarise three common 'types' of violence in the Old Testament: 1) Abuse towards women, 2) Divinely Mandated Genocide, 3) Violent Laws.
