It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas: in Aarhus!
I can’t quite believe I’m at the end of my first semester here already. We’ve seen the city change from the beauty of summer to a typical Danish winter with almost everything in between, and I’m still pedalling on (literally, cycling every day).
I really want to thank you for your prayers and praise God for how he’s provided for myself and others over the last few months.
Since our first meeting in September, the “RAMA Jesus lovers”, as I jovially called us, have been meeting almost weekly to pray for the academy. Sometimes just two of us, but most recently we were five! Although we are dispersed us in our various networks and specific study lines, God has brought us together and we’re able to share our journeys with each other and… we have a friend who has recently become a Christian! Please join us in praying for his faith and that he would settle into a good church – he wants to come to ÅVM (church) with me this week, so I hope he likes it because it’s definitely a great place to grow. Prayers are also appreciated for the continuation and growth of our faith group in the academy – there is some enthusiasm, but it can be difficult some weeks to gauge whether people are uninterested, too busy or just bad at replying to messages!
In November I was grateful to spend a lovely weekend with other students at my church – an experience I cherished through meeting new friends, praising God together and learning and loving the church’s doctrines which overall has made me feel so settled there. We also have a fortnightly international small group where I’m able to pray with and for others in a “hyggelig” (cosy) Danish home! We also had a 24/7 prayer week, through which I saw God soften hearts around me so that we could have conversations about Jesus, which can often be difficult (particularly with trumpet players, in my experience).
The Danish lifestyle has so far been really good for my health, stress levels and general outlook on life so I’m praising God for that but also want to be looking out for the best opportunities to evangelise in this setting. It can be easy to become complacent and put my worth in the physically satisfying things, but I know God has much more planned than that – I just need to rest in his grace whilst pursuing his goals above my own.
Thanks as always for your prayers
